Residents in Lubbock, Texas have something to smile about… or maybe not.  They have the worst teeth in the nation. 

That’s according to a new study in an upcoming issue of “Men’s Health” magazine.  The publication ranked 100 large cities in America and Lubbock is the number one city with the worst teeth.  El Paso is in the top ten, and Dallas and San Antonio fall into the top one-hundred.  Lubbock blames the high level of fluoride in the water, as well as the rising cost of dental care.  Some of the cities at the top of the list for best teeth are Madison, Wisconsin and Nashville, Tennessee. San Diego came in at #29…

I get razzed all the time around the office for my nails.  Just the other day I had lunch with the gang and a record guy knew about my nails before I even arrived to the table.  (Thanks Jen W, I know it was you).  

I get it.  I’m a little left of center, but that’s what makes me, well, me.  I have had just about every king of “thing” attached or done to my nails.  From charms to hearts to crazy nail art to the current zebra stripes that I’m workin’ but never, NEVER have I EVER had the desire to strut around with this atrocity hanging from my digits-  much to the relief of my co-workers.  (Well, maybe just the cherry blossom tree.) Then of course, comes the obvious question to which no one really wants to know the answer… how would one with nails like this do uh… ya know… stuff?

Look… most of us avoid exercise like the plague.  Okay, maybe just me, but if this doesn’t get you off of your backside to work out then NOTHING will…

It seems that BEER is the best quencher of thirst after strenous exercise according to Karl Strauss.  No, just kidding, according to researchers at Granada University in Spain.  They found that the bubbles in beer can help quench thirst and the carbohydrates in the beverage can help make up for burned calories… which yes, I realize is typically the reason for exercise in the first place.  BUT…

The study involved a group of students doing hard workout type stuff in 104 degree temps. Half of the students were given a pint of beer after their exercise and half were given a pint of water. The hydration affect on the beer drinkers was “slightly better” than the sober group.  AND, some doctor type guy from Spain (Juan Antonio Corbalan)  who has worked with Real Madrid football players and Spain’s national basketball team, said he’s been recommending beer to professional sportsmen after exhausting activities for years, because it is optimal for rehydrating the body.

A little creative breast cancer awareness can get you tossed in jail.  Especially in Boulder, Colorado.  Lesson learned- whatever you do, don’t dye Miss Muffy…

From Fox News:  BOULDER, Colo.  —  Just about every product you can buy is available in pink, or at least pink packaging, to raise awareness and money for breast cancer research. But one hair stylist’s move to color Cici, her white poodle, pink for the cause has gone too far and could cost her $1,000, authorities in Boulder said.

Joy Douglas, owner of Zing Hair Salon, will appear in municipal court Tuesday on a charge of violating a city ordinance that prohibits the coloring or dyeing of animals. It was passed several years ago to discourage families from dyeing rabbits and chicks for Easter.

Lisa Pedersen, director of the humane society, said she’s received complaints and they’ve warned Douglas several times.

Douglas is certain the pink stain doesn’t harm Cici: She uses organic beet juice.
