P!nk, PETA and Horses
P!nk a very outspoken animal rights activist is joining up with PETA to ban horse-drawn carriages in New York. What do you think? Is this cruel and unusual?

Carriage horse life is a hard life no doubt. But horses are happy to have a job instead of standing in a stall where no one comes to visit them or brush them or turn them out. Do bad things happen when a carriage horse gets in an accident, ya. But so does it turn out bad when a motorcyclist is an accident or a bicylist or a pedestrian. Accidnet are part of life.
The NY mounted police have horses that live and work in the city. And I sure these horses have had serious injuries from trafic accidents. But the horses are still an integral part of the force.
If you take the horses job away from him, then what do you do for him. Let him stand in a field and starve (if can find someone to let you put a horse in a field). Then how happy will he be after he has had someone to look after him daily.
As with any profession you find negative sides to it. But there are also good points. Most carriage horses are well taken care of and have periods of rest from their work. It does not profit a driver to have their horse sick or injured, because then he can’t earn a living. Yes there are probably some horses that have ideal conditions but that does mean the industry is bad, just some of the individuals in the industry.
Look at both sides of the truth before you make a descision on which side to support. Learn some about the history of the horse and horse behavior before you use your emotions to decide if a horse is unhappy with his job and not being treated “humanely”.
Horses have alot to offer the human race. A carriage ride my be the only way some can experience the world of horses don’t take this away from the human race. Look a how many times a yellow cab is involved in an incident with the carriage and the horse. WHy don’t we ban the polluting, smogey automobile in the city, not the horse.
