Suicide isn’t a topic I’d typically throw out there for you to discuss, but Seether’s front man, Shaun Morgan, felt there was a strong need for teens to get help when they need it… and I agree.  Plus, this story has a silver lining, so stay with me here.   

Basically Shaun realized that kids weren’t getting the help they needed at a time when they needed it the most so along with Seether’s label- Wind Up Records- they set it up so you can watch the video for “Rise Above This” and when you do a donation to the Kids Help Phone will be made in your name.

Here’s how this all unfolded per Shaun… “As a test, I phoned the suicide line in the States, and after waiting five minutes I was put through to a very bored-sounding woman,” the singer explains. “So I just hung up the phone.

“It was just like, ‘Wow, if I had really been needing someone to talk to, that wouldn’t have been the person I’d want to turn to.’ I was kind of disgusted by that. I felt like I was bugging them, which is not how these kids should be feeling if they take the time to phone.

“But first of all, I figured that if I’m waiting that long, then that means there must be a lot of people calling. That in itself means that there’s a heavy need for these types of things, and there needs to be people who aren’t too busy to speak to kids, because it’s a pretty courageous step to even make that phone call. So basically, we decided we wanted to make a positive difference to kids, and if they visit our label’s website and watch the video, our company donates to the charity. It’s aimed at helping kids that are feeling vulnerable and scared and lonely, and hopefully having a website like that builds a community.” (The quotes were pulled from a story in Chart Attack from July 2nd.)

Amy Winehouse stunned followers at the U.K.’s Glastonbury festival after allegedly attacking a fan.  Amy was singing “Rehab” to 75,000 fans on Saturday when she jumped from the stage and into the security pit. Amy then appeared to lash out at a fan, striking the fan with her fist. But a spokesman for Amy insists she was provoked, adding, “The ‘lashing out’ was when someone tried to grab her hair and she reacted.” Amy also hit back at fans who booed her as she paid tribute to her incarcerated husband Blake Fielder-Civil. She said, “Boo me one more time and I’ll find you and your phone and call your mum and tell her you ain’t got no manners.”  

Can Heath Ledger win an Oscar for his role as the Joker in “The Dark Knight”? “Rolling Stone” critic Peter Travers thinks so. In his review of the flick, Travers goes pretty well overboard raving about Heath’s performance. He says, “I can only speak superlatives of Ledger, who is mad-crazy-blazing brilliant as the Joker.” He add, “There’s a movement to get him the first posthumous Oscar since Peter Finch won for 1976’s ‘Network’.” The movie’s end credits will include a dedication to Heath and Conway Wickliffe a special effects guy who died doing a stunt for the movie last fall. “The Dark Knight” hits theaters July 18th. 

Verne Troyer, aka `Mini-Mi` in two “Austin Powers” films filed a $20 MIL lawsuit against the gossip Web site TMZ.com and others for showing snippets of a private sex tape he made with his girlfriend. Troyer claims TMZ and Kevin Blatt, the man who distributed the “One Night in Paris” sex tape of socialite Paris Hilton, of violation of privacy, copyright infringement, trademark infringement, violation of right to publicity and misappropriation of name and likeness. The tape was made within the last year and shows Troyer and his girlfriend engaged in a series of sex acts. Word has it, the distributor “is entertaining a $100,000 offer from SugarDVD to distribute” the video. Ranae Shrider is the mystery woman in the Mini-Me sex tape. The 22-year-old actress lived with The Love Guru star for six months and thought she would marry him.  

Will we see Britney Spears on this year’s MTV Video Music Awards?  The president of MTV says that “everyone deserves a second or third chance”, so it could be a possibility.  Britney’s performance during last year’s VMA’s was one of the most-talked televised moments of 2007 and drew 7.1 million viewers.  This year’s awards will be in LA on September 7^th and MTV is already working to top last year’s performance.  There’s no doubt that a Britney opener would bring in the viewers and Britney’s recent good behavior might indicate a decent performance.

Benji Madden is helping girlfriend Paris Hilton with her singing career, or lack thereof…Benji already wrote one song about Paris being his light or whatever, but now he’s helping her write the theme song to her upcoming MTV reality show “My New BFF.” She’s going to sing it, too. Paris says she will release another album, she just doesn’t know when yet. But it’s definitely on her To Do list.

Mini-Me, of Austin Powers movie fame, is suing for $20 million to keep your eyes away from his sex-tape with a woman twice his size.  (Pun?  Of course!, Thank you!)  I wonder if he has a frosted side?  I kid, I kid.

Ummmm, I’d like to pay NOT to have to see this one!!  Now, the Hilton-Salomon tape, that was good viewing, even in night-vision, but Verne Troyer??  No, thank you!  While I’m on the subject, I wish I could go back and NOT see the Fred Durst (Limp Bizkit) tape!!

Footage from a sex video featuring ‘Mini-Me’ Verne Troyer and a former girlfriend has popped up online after a third party got hold of the tape. It was shot in the apartment Troyer shared with his ex. TMZ.com has a clip from the video, and claims sex tape dealer Kevin Blatt, the perv who brokered the deal for Paris Hilton’s “One Night In Paris”, is in negotiations to distribute the footage.  

Justin Timberlake suffers from Obsessive Compulsive Disorder(OCD) and the anxiety-based condition is taking over his life. JT says he is overly-obsessed with neatness and often spends hours making sure objects are lined up perfectly, but the stress that comes with the disorder is often debilitating. Plus, Justin said that he’s also dealing with Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD). Sufferers experience forgetfulness, distractibility and hyperactivity. Justin claims he has managed to get his condition under control, but it still creates everyday challenges for him. He says, “I have OCD mixed with ADD. You try living with that. It’s complicated.”  

Kevin Federline is being offered a seven-figure endorsement job. Britney Spears’ ex-husband has been approached to be the new face of Christopher Brian Collection. In Touch Weekly quoted a company exec who says, “We feel Kevin would be a great model for the line.” Nothing has been set in stone regarding the modeling gig because the 30-year-old father of four is busy with other projects. “Kevin is also working with Chris on his music and movie career”. 

Heather Locklear is getting a mental tuneup. She is in an Arizona facility, getting treatment for psychological issues. Her publicist said: “Heather has been dealing with anxiety and depression. She requested an in-depth evaluation of her medication and entered into a medical facility for proper diagnosis and treatment”. Locklear’s rep, Cece Yorke added: “This is a confidential medical matter and no further statement will be released.”

“Saturday Night Live” will pay tribute to George Carlin this Saturday night by airing the premiere episode of the show that he hosted back in 1975. Carlin died Sunday at age 71. He appears on the debut episode along with Dan Aykroyd, John Belushi, Chevy Chase, Jane Curtin and Gilda Radner. The show also includes a performance by comedian Andy Kaufman. Lorne Michaels, creator of SNL said the late comedian made his impact from the start. “You never forget the people who were there at the beginning. George Carlin helped to give “Saturday Night Live” its start as our first host. He was gracious, fearless and most important of all, funny.” 

Angelina Jolie recently revealed to Entertainment Weekly that she still loves her ex husband, Billy Bob Thornton. “The Billy Bob stuff got under Brad’s skin. He felt it was too much and told Angie he thought it was inappropriate, but she just brushed it off,” says an insider. While Angie still talks to Billy Bob, she doesn’t want Brad to have any contact with Jennifer Aniston or Gwyneth Paltrow.  ”Angie gets crazy jealous and doesn’t want to hear about Jennifer Aniston, Gwyneth or any other women Brad dated,” the insider says. “That’s why you rarely hear him mention an ex in an interview.”

David Spade has dated some of the hottest women in Hollywood, despite his lack of movie star looks. How does he do it? By being normal. Asked how he managed to land everyone from Carmen Electra to Heather Locklear, Kristy Swanson to Teri Hatcher, David Spade shares his secret with OK! Magazine. “Everyone is so weird in L.A. that if you’re somewhat normal, it’s exotic,” David explains. “That has been the only reason some girls have dated me.” 

Sources tell Life & Style that Mariah is too demanding for Nick. “I give the marriage six months, tops,” says a source close to the singer. “I can’t see it lasting.” One reason for friends’ concern is that Nick insists on doing everything for Mariah. “Nick does whatever Mariah wants him too - he’s like her puppy. It seems like Nick spends more time in the stores with Mariah’s credit card than he does with Mariah herself.” The insider goes on to say that Mariah’s assistants and friends call him “Whipped Nick” behind his back.  

Music producer, Jermaine Dupri told People magazine last weekend that the couple is planning to become parents “soon, right after the tour.” Janet is hitting the road this fall. However, when Jackson was asked about Dupri’s comment in a recent interview, she responded, “When did he say that?” When asked if she was baby ready, she said, “I guess he is.”  

Linda Hogan made on a bizarre call to 911 on May 22nd. She told the 911 operator that Hulk Hogan was outside of her house even though she has a court order keeping him away from her. Hulk got into his car and drove away. That’s when Linda got into her car and started following him. (Duh!) Click here to listen to the call.
